The Sugar Collaboration Group aims to support the transformation of the sugar sector by raising the social and environmental sustainability baseline
Objectives of the SCG
01
To provide a precompetitive space for companies from the entire sugar supply chain to come together to identify and address common social and environmental challenges.
02
To complement certification/verification schemes by focusing on 'raising the baseline' across the sector.
03
To co-develop sectoral tools and approaches to address identified gaps or create greater alignment.
How We Work
The SCG has a global presence and aims to provide an inclusive and precompetitive space in the sugar sector for companies to work together to address social and environmental issues through the co-development of tools, methodologies, and approaches.
Through pooling resources and expert knowledge, the group complements existing sector sustainability schemes and tools and seeks to uplift the sustainability baseline of the sector. The group aims to develop practical resources which can be utilised within the sector, such as the Universal Mill List, which supports traceability data sharing - a key element needed for understanding both environmental and social challenges and opportunities within sugar supply chains.
